Persuasive speech

School uniforms to the rescue. Now that the school has decided to enforce the uniform rule all the trouble and violence will be eliminated right? Wrong. How can anyone think that just because they control what you wear, they can control what you say or do? It's a block on the expression of individuality, it's a cause for easy rebellion, and it's just completely pointless.

First off, one of the things of being a teenager is being able to find and express yourself. It's a very important part of growing up. Different people have different styles. Some enjoy the rocker, skater, or emo/goth look. Others prefer the jockish, preppy, designer look. Then there are those who simply dress for comfort. When being told what to wear, for example, a strictly this way school uniform, teenagers lose that chance to express their individuality. Most of the time there isn't much variety in uniforms. Girls especially depise this. To have to wear the same thing everyday, it's so boring and plain. Yes, sometimes the uniforms are attractive, but it's still boring. Everyone looks alike. There is no individualism. What's the fun in that?

Second, I'd like to go into detail on how greatly despised the idea of school uniforms is. Teenagers absolutely hate the idea of being told what to wear, and when enough teenagers get ticked off at the same time about the same thing, they sometimes do what they're known for. Rebelling. I mean picture it. Can't you just see a group of students one day elaboratin their uniforms and flaunting them around school? Some would even refuse to put them on and wear whatever they feel like. Yes, they'd get into trouble. But really, they don't care. Honestly when a teen doesn't what to do something, they won't.

Alot of schools turn to the use of school uniforms as a form of punishment. Because there is so much violence and lack of disipline and such, authorities mistakeningly believe that if they can control what we wear, they can cut back on the wrong-doings. Okay newsflash. Just because they'd have to dress a certain way, doesn't mean they're going to suddenly behave like angels. If there's going to be a fight at school, there's going to be one regardless of the type of clothing one is wearing. Teenagers are still going to act up. This method is completely pointless.

Really, school uniforms are just a bad idea. I can see where maybe at an expensive private school they may be more tolerable, but at a regular public school? Very bad idea. All that will happen is that students will be ticked off that they can no longer stand out, and some will feel the need to act out more to get rid of the uniforms. The end results will be much worse than before.
