SEM exam

"The hills are alive, with the sound of music..." I was recently involved in the musical The Sound of Music. It was one of the best plays I have ever been in. I wouldn't exchange the experience for anything. It's such a great show with an amazing story. I absolutely love it! Not only is it great entertainment but people can easily relate to parts of the storyline. And, though it has similar twists as in other musicals, it's also on a pedestal all it's own.

The story is all about the Von Trapp family. Captain Von Trapp and his seven children have lost their beloved wife and mother. Now, Georg runs his family in a way similar to that in the navy. Then, Frauline Maria shows up to take care of the children and begins to turn all their lives around. This all is happening right in the middle of Hitler's reign. The Von Trapp's become in danger of being separated when they stay true to Austria. They must now band together and allow their love to help them survive.

The Sound of Music is a very special musical because unlike alot of others, it was based on a true story. Similar to others though, it is filled with singing and dancing. Songs and body movements to help tell the story. There's your beloved main character and the always hated antagonist that's gets in the way.

What I really like about the sound of music is the songs. The songs are so fun and easy to sing along to. The storyline is also pretty great. I love the Liesl and Rolf relationship in the beginning and then the betrayal in the end. I love how the cinderella element comes into play when the great Captain Von Trapp falls in love with caretaker of his children. I love how it all comes together in the end to create a musical that people in every generation enjoy.

Basically, I'm a huge fan of musicals. Period. There are so many great ones out there! I don't know. I guess there's just something about them. Telling a story through dance and song just seems to make life more fun. I wish it was like that in reality.
